Oversized handbags have become very trendy. Women are buying bigger, bulkier bags than ever before. While they are convenient because you can carry a lot more, the strain of carrying more weight is having negative physical effects on people. Doctors report that they are seeing more people come in for elbow, shoulder, and neck pain from carrying large handbags.

The problem lies in the way that women are carrying these oversized handbags. The worst way to carry these heavy bags is in the crook of your elbow. This causes strain on that entire side of the body. Before large handbags became stylish, people were carrying suitcases to carry laptops and extra items. At the end of each week you should also clean out your bag, taking out everything you don’t need. There is no reason you should be carrying that bottle of water from last week, just because your bad is huge doesn’t mean you should fill it to the brim. They say beauty hurts, but if you want to avoid damaging your shoulder, elbow, and neck, you’ll have to get a smaller bag or carry less in your oversized one.
