Trends That Won’t Go Away

2010 was certainly a very spectacular year for fashion, even though not all of the news was upbeat. One of the saddest stories was the loss of famed designer Alexander McQueen, who was a major inspiration to many designers and a favorite of many celebs, including Sex and the City starlet Sarah Jessica Parker. However, with the sad comes some good, like the presence of celebrities in fashion bringing new looks and ideas to the table. With fashion being front page news these days, why are there still some trends that will not go away? These celebs refuse to bring on the new stuff:

Sienna Miller’s Leopard Prada – Seriously Sienna? Why would you take a well-respected brand like Prada and choose their leopard print bag? I may sound like a broken record to dedicated readers of this blog, but animal prints on bags are just silly and look tacky. Can’t we leave them in 2010?

Alanis Morrisette’s Birkin – Well, it’s official – the Hermes Birkin bag isn’t going anywhere. From the smattering of celebs that exclusively carry Birkins to the namedropping of Hermes on TV shows like Sex and the City, it just doesn’t seem like these jaw dropping western style handbags are going anywhere.

Rihanna’s Prada Bag – Although her bag is quite lovely, I’m not sure about the hair color that this pop star’s been sporting these days. It certainly doesn’t go with her yellowish Prada Cervo Shine Bowler so maybe it’s time for a change. What is a Shine Bowler anyway?

Nikki Reed’s Python Clutch – Oh the humanity! More python clutches? I’m not sure how to take this news. At least I’m not sure who Nikki Reed is, so it can’t be all bad to the fashion scene.

Let’s move on Hollywood. New Year, new fashion.
