Fashion designer Nicky Hilton released a book called “365 Style” and has collaborated with handbag and accessories brand Linea Pelle on a fall 2015 handbag collection called Nicky Hilton x Linea Pelle. The collection was debuted at the Coterie NY fashion trade show in New York City and will formally launch in September.
Linea Pelle asked Hilton to create a capsule collection. She wanted to design classic handbags that would have timeless designs. Her favorite bag in the collection is the closet clutch, which is large enough to fit a cell phone, Blackberry, camera, notepad, and other items. She designed the bag because she, like many other women, has to carry a lot of things with her on a daily basis. The closet clutch is versatile and can be modified to be worn as a clutch, crossbody, or purse.
She began designing the handbag collection by choosing shapes that she looks for but has trouble finding and then chose the colors and leathers. Hilton says the bags seem to appeal to women of all ages, from teens to 70s.
Hilton has known the owners of Linea Pelle for a long time and was impressed when she toured their factory in Los Angeles by the quality of the leathers and hardware. She also liked the fact that the company is family-run and thought they would make good partners.
Hilton is inspired by fashion and styles she sees while traveling the world for business and pleasure and by designers such as Diane von Furstenberg. She describes her personal style as eclectic and always changing.
